The best iOS 10 hints for your iPhone
It’s been almost a month since iOS 10 came into our lives and more than 50% of iPhone users are already updated to iOS 10.0.2!
It might take a while until we get used to iOS 10 and iPhone 7 (read here my review about iPhone 7) and iPhone 7+ but these iOS 10 hints will make your life easier while using iOS 10.0.2. Enjoy!
1. Delete ALL mail at once on your iPhone on iOS 10
A big surprise when you update to iOS 10.0.2 is that the ”Thrash All” option of Mail App is absent from your iPhone or iPad!
If you are like me and receive tons of emails every day, this is a disaster! I couldn’t believe that Apple didn’t fix this with iOS 10.0.2. Of course, I sent a complaint to Apple!
Anyway, you can find some YouTube tutorials with iOS 10 Hints for deleting all mail but all of them, share the same issue: Emails are coming Back!
Fortunately, we found a way to delete ALL mail at once! Here is how!
- Go to Mail app in iOS 10
- Go to the inbox or to a specific mailbox folder
- Select the “Edit” button in your screen’s top right corner
- Unfortunately, you will have to manually select every single email! Make sure the blue check mark appears next to the emails you want to delete!
- Select “Trash” in your screen’s bottom right corner the corner
- Select “Trash Selected Messages” to confirm emails’ delete
- That’s it. You managed to delete all your unwanted emails and they will never ”return” to your iPhone again!
If you have multiple email accounts (I bet you do), you will have to repeat the whole process for every single account of yours!
Maybe this is the most tiring of iOS 10 hints but there is no other way around it for now. We will have to live with this until Apple decides to fix it with a future iOS update!
2. Taking Screen Shots in iOS 10
Did you try to take a screenshot in iOS 10 Old-school with your brand new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus?
Instead of a screen shot this is what you got:
- You summoned Siri or
- You sent your iPhone to your Home Screen or
- You locked your iPhone
In fact, it makes no difference if you used an iPhone, iPad or iPod!
So did the Screen Shot procedure change in iOS 10?
Nope, it is the exactly the same! You only have to press Power Button and Home Button at the same time! You will see a flash on your screen, which means that the Screen Shot was captured and you can find it in your Photos App!
But what the hell am I doing wrong?
Well my friends, it all about timing, sensitivity and minor adjustments! So let’s find out how to fix this with one of the simplest iOS 10 Hints!
Forget about pressing Home Button and Power Button at the same time and press the Power Button just one second (at most) before you also press Home Button!
This will work on any iPhone, iPad and iPod!
Don’t try to press Home Button first because you will experience the outcomes I told when I started this part of ”iOS 10 Hints” article! (Siri, Home Screen or Lock down)
But if you still wonder why Apple did that, it mostly has to do with iPhone 7, iPhone 7+ and the new design of Home Button! The new Home Button is integrated to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus front side and this means that latest two iPhone models lack physical clicking when you press the Home Button!
The Home Button pressing sensitivity activate different iPhone features!
Anyway, no matter the iDevice you are using press the Power Button first when you want to take a Screenshot in iOS 10!
3. How to Disable Raise to Wake
Let’s start with the quickest of iOS 10 hints!
Raise to Wake is available on iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6s!
”Raise to Wake”, wakes your iPhone every time it is physically raised out of your pocket or from any surface and is enabled by default. While you don’t have to press any buttons to wake your iPhone, Raise to Wake might become really annoying!
Do you want to disable Raise to Wake? Here is how!
- Go to iPhone Settings > Display & Brightness
- Navigate to “Raise to Wake” and turn it OFF!
