Many sites out there claim that they have an iCloud Unlock Service that can bypass the iCloud Activation Lock Screen. The truth is that there are no such services!
A great example of such a scammer is icloudunlockservice.com which we recently tested and the results were not a surprise to us.
iCloud Lock and the iCloud Activation Lock Screen
There is nothing worse than getting an iCloud Locked used iPhone.
iCloud Lock or Find my iPhone Activation Lock if you prefer are the same thing! When someone says that an iPhone is iCloud Locked, it means that the original owner has turned on ”Find my iPhone” feature. iCloud Lock became a reality back in 2013 and the release of iOS 7. Since the release of iOS 9, iCloud Lock or Find my iPhone Activation Lock (choose how you want to call it), is a built-in app!
When the iCloud Lock is turned on:
- When someone powers up the iPhone, he has to deal with iCloud Activation Lock Screen
- The iPhone needs the original owner’s Apple ID and password to get activated
- The original owner can find the iPhone on online maps
- The original owner can erase all iPhone data and settings remotely if the iPhone gets Lost or Stolen
- The original owner can place a message with contact information when the iPhone gets Stolen or Lost
- The original owner can use the ”Play Sound” feature to find the iPhone
Without the original owner’s Apple ID and password, the iCloud Activation Lock Screen is the end of your journey with an iCloud Locked iPhone!
As you see in the image above this is the famous iCloud Activation Lock Screen. In all 3 cases, you need the original owner’s Apple ID and password in order to move on!
- On the second Activation Lock Screen, the original owner has left a message with an email address or a phone number so when somebody finds the iPhone can get in touch with him
- In the first and third case, there is no message from the original owner. So what happens now?
And so, you started a google search about ”iCloud Unlock Service” and you found icloudunlockservice.com. It wasn’t difficult after all because it is the first site that shows up (thanx a lot Google).
I tried their iCloud Removal Tool and this is what I found.
Step one: Welcome to iCloud Unlocker Online
As soon as I entered this site I had to turn off my anti-virus because it was warning me about phishing threat, so I already knew what to expect.
The next fraud signal is that there was no information about the iCloud Unlock Service I was going to use. Just a prompt box on the top to enter my iPhone’s IMEI and continue.
Right under it, there was another box with the icloudunlockservice site’s recent activity which was refreshed every 10 seconds with new names from all around the world. And the IMEI numbers of the iCloud Unlocked iPhones. (Protecting personal data is not an issue here for sure)
3 people every 10 seconds are 18 every minute, 1080 iCloud unlocked iPhones every hour and 25920 iCloud Lock Removals in one day. AWESOME!
You already understand that they are all bogus Gmail accounts and IMEIs, produced by a generator, don’t you?
A nice scam has always fake reviews and icloudunlockservice.com is not an exception. At the bottom, there is a comment section with thousands of people thanking this iCloud Lock Deactivation Tool provider.
It is really easy to reveal a fake review.
Just hover your mouse over a name, as I did. On the bottom left corner, you can see the URL of the person who comments which should be a Facebook account URL, judging from the comments interface.
But guess what? As you can see, it shows icloudunlockservice.com URL.
Ok, I already know that this is an iCloud Unlock rip-off, so I want to leave a comment in order to warn people but…no. I can’t leave a comment. I didn’t see that coming.
Step 2: Entering the IMEI number to icloudunlocker.com
I used a fake IMEI number with 12 digits. (an original IMEI has 15 digits and they can’t be the same)
Did iCloud Unlocker Online had a problem with that? Of course, not!
I was informed that this iCloud Unlocker is completely safe, right away! Thank God. I take back everything I said until now.
Ok, I’m totally convinced that I was wrong and icloudunlockservice.com is the real deal. The time has come to press UNLOCK NOW and iCloud Unlock my imaginary iPhone 12.
Step 3: Initiating the iCloud Bypass process
Every iCloud Unlock Scam which respects itself has some kind of iCloud Hacking happening in front of your very eyes in a few seconds.
And there it is! My iPhone is iCloud Unlocked at last. Thank you icloudunlockservice… But wait… There is more?
Step 4: Verify you are a human to unlock iCloud???
Ok, I can do that but I can’t understand why you want me to do so after you deactivated the iCloud Activation Lock from my iPhone for free.
Step 5: icloudunlockservice Scam revealed
It’s time to translate. You see I am living in Greece so iCloud Unlock Online recognized my IP and talked to me in my native language. This iCloud hack never stops to impress me.
So, in order to complete the iCloud Unlock Service which was completed in step 3, I had to choose 1 or 2 cool offers:
- The chance to win a brand new iPhone X (Yeahhhhhh)
- Win a Samsung S8 (pffff, I’ll pass)
- Win a 500EUR coupon on a famous Greek Super Market Chain (mmmm)
- Win the latest Viber Stickers and decorations for all smartphones (pass)
Of course, I went for an iPhone X.
The big letters say: Now, you have the chance to claim an Apple iPhone X.
It needs my phone number in order to continue.
Depending on how much is your monthly tariff, it may take a while until you realize that these scammers charge you €24.96 per month.
